rendering in premiere is mostly just to allow smooth playback while editing, so you can watch what you are working on. you dont need to render before exporting, it will export full quality of whichever sequence/timeline and export settings are in use. Rendering and previewing sequences by default it will only try to render red area’s of the timeline, if you dont have any that may explain why nothing happens.

In my tests, I’ve found that any time advantage in exporting depends on what it is being rendered to, Sometimes there is a minor advantage; other times, none at all.
It is not necesary to render a preview before exporting. On a fast computer Pr can often preview your project without rendering very well. But, if you add several effects to a clip, it sometimes will not preview well (very slow or jerky). In that case, in order to see how you project works you may render a preview so it plays smoothly.

12/5/2019 · Smart rendering cuts down on the processing of exporting even more by doing a bit more work up front. Any smart rendering workflow you can add prior to exporting will speed up your exporting process even more than improving hardware and working with optimized media. Kevin Monahan, from Adobe, summarized the steps of Smart Rendering: Before Editing, The only time that Rendering before export will help is if you enable use previews in the render settings – and I would only recommend this for preview purposes. There are 2 important options in the video settings before you export. Render at Maximum Depth and Use Maximum Render Quality. I’ve found that these options are really only good for live action film stuff. When I export a let’s play, I turn both of them off and it cuts my exporting time significantly.
9/29/2009 · No, it’s not necessary. Exporting just queues it up in the Adobe Media Encoder. You still have to push start in AME.
and it will render as it encodes. One benefit of having AME as a separate program frees you up to edit other projects, while it renders in the background. Quote.
1/30/2019 · Rendering is completed in blocks, so you will retain any preview files that were created before you canceled the render. Rendering your project on a regular basis can save vast amounts of time in the exporting process. When you export your project, Premiere renders then compresses it.
